BKK 100 ROCK FESTIVAL

On the weekend of 18/19 February 2006, Bangkok hosted the biggest ever rock festival in South East Asia. The festival brought some of the best known international acts into Thailand and gathered the hottest names in the Thai rock scene as well. Together this made the Bangkok 100 Rock Festival one of the greatest musical events ever held in South East Asia.

"Riverman were responsible for booking the acts and co-ordinating the event in association with Matching Entertainment.

The 2 day festival attracted 42,000 local and international fans and was staged at Lakeside, Muangthong Thani, close to the airport, on a massive 60,000 sq. m area. On day one Oasis were the headliner act, with Franz Ferdinand, Ian Brown and dEUS supporting. On Day Two Placebo headlined with Snow Patrol, Maximo Park and the Futureheads playing as well as Thai bands Big Ass and Bodyslam.

On Saturday, the local Thai acts, Ebola, Modern Dog and Flure warmed up the crowd before dEUS started the evening show. Ian Brown (from the Stone Roses) was next in line setting the stage for Franz Ferdinand, who
the audience loved. The last act of the night was the eagerly awaited Oasis, who stole the show playing classics such as "Don't look back in Anger" and "Wonderwall". They played for an hour and a half and did several encores for the appreciative audience.

On Sunday, after the local band Bodyslam, the Futureheads took to the stage with their charismatic vocal and guitar style. Maximo Park were next up followed by Snow Patrol. All three bands were given an immense Thai welcome. Last up were the headline act of the day, Placebo, who performed an energised mix of old classics and new material, which had the crowd moshing vigorously creating the perfect end to a great festival.

Plans are already underway for the next Bangkok Rock Festival with more headline acts and amazing performances. NOT TO BE MISSED!"
