Red Organ Serpent Sound come from Derry - home of Ireland’s biggest pagan carnival, a rural city and birth place of Seamus Heaney. A city that has had it’s share of troubles. A band that have the outlaw attitude of an early Stooges - they developed their own electric circus of sleaze style groove and intergalactic country punk at raucous bacchanals held amongst the hay stacks of a barn outside Derry. Sporting a top hat with his face wrapped in a red stocking frontman Rory Moore is the ringmaster.
If you have been lucky enough to catch the band touring with The Blood Arm, Snow Patrol or dEUS, you’ll know that the Red Organ carnival of misfits is live and dangerous! In Ireland, the band have already been nominated for Best New Irish Act in their Brit’s equivalent, The Meteors.
Rather than being inspired by the trendy Teutonic zeitgeist, Red Organ Serpent Sound’s mind’s have been fired by the imaginative excess of sci-fi 70s prog. Red Organ make their escape through a soundscape of wire-edged guitar and righteous organ - straight to destination fuck-pop.
While scene-ster band’s chase their tails in the Metropolis a surreal new sound has been brewing across the Irish Sea without any ancestors or contemporaries to feed off. An outpouring of primal rock'n'roll that comes from so far out there, over here won’t know what’s bit it.
“This IS Fuck-pop!” Gary Lightbody, Snow Patrol
“The sound of 80’s Matchbox doing it ‘doggy doggy’ with The Coral” NME
“This is more like it... big rock chanting, a treacherous patch of white noise and three minutes of daft hooks. Smart” Time Out
“Straight outta Marvel Comic books bound the colourful, sexy R.O.S.S, thrillerish, sleazy - an order to get hold of the ultimate high and fuck it senseless” The Fly
“This music will go down well anywhere, pubs. clubs, orgies or simply driving very fast on your local autobahn” Clash
“This band are going to be big” What’s On
“Exploding onto the stage spouting refreshing riffs and vocals to match” Artrocker
“R.O.S.S aren’t an ‘about to’ band but have already arrived... Low instincts, high art and so sexy their gigs are reserved sins in certain dioceses” Eamonn McCann, Hot Press
